Thank you for registering for the 2024 Mock Elections. You can now download the Hansard Society's Toolkit using the links below. The Toolkit comprises 5 parts. Each part can be downloaded separately. The files are small and should take only seconds to download.

The Toolkit is free - all we ask is that you you submit your results to us so that we can include them in the final nationwide Mock Elections result.

The deadline to submit your results is 6pm on Thursday 4 July.

NOTE: If you have not already registered, please do so here - we won't be able to accept any results for inclusion in the national Mock Election if you have not registered. It will only take a minute!

This Toolkit for Teachers is a 10-step guide to enable you to create the excitement and drama of a real election in your school. It is designed to be run with one or more classes over several days using a combination of class/form time, lessons, assemblies and breaks/lunchtime. You can scale the Mock Election to meet whatever time and resources you have available.

If you are short on time you do not need to run every element of a Mock Election as set out in our standard Toolkit - you can adapt the Mock Election model to suit your school's own needs. For example, you could run a Mock Election with just one class over two lessons or a double period. Our quick Mock Election Toolkit provides a step-by-step guide.

Our Cue Cards are designed to help you guide pupils through the Mock Elections process as they discover and decide which roles they would like to take on. The Cue Cards provide advice and link to resources about becoming a candidate, choosing a party, being an electoral administrator, counting the votes, or running a pressure group, and more!

Our Templates pack includes all the resources you need to run a Mock Election, including candidate nomination forms, electoral registration forms, postal vote forms, notice of poll posters, ballot box seals, rosettes, ballot papers, and a draft press release and opinion poll survey. These can be replicated as they are or adapted to suit your requirements.

Our Mock Elections Poster provides a summary of each of the 10 steps outlined in the Mock Election Toolkit. In a clear A3 format that can be easily displayed in a classroom, the Poster explains what occurs at each stage of the election process, including assigning roles, nominating candidates, and conducting the election.

The deadline to submit your results is 6pm on Thursday 4 July (though if you can submit them before then that would be really helpful!)

Details about how to submit your results are contained in the Toolkit.

We will analyse the data and announce the nationwide result as soon as possible after the deadline.
